Celebrated premiere of REBECCA

AT THE RAIMUND THEATER

The VBW success musical REBECCA is finally back in Vienna! On September 22, 2022, the musical masterpiece by Michael Kunze & Sylvester Levay celebrated its grand gala premiere at the Raimund Theater.

The atmosphere in the theater was terrific: minutes of thunderous applause and standing ovations for the production, cast and the entire team. The musical season 2022/2023 of the Vereinigte Bühnen Wien is now open!

In the roles of the lovers "Maxim de Winter" and "I", audience favourite Mark Seibert and newcomer Nienke Latten, who was making her Vienna debut, thrilled the audience. Willemijn Verkaik ("Mrs. Danvers") and Ana Milva Gomes ("Mrs. Van Hopper") brought great applause from the audience with their performances. Boris Pfeifer, Annemieke van Dam, James Park and Aris Sas shone in the roles of "Jack Favell", "Beatrice", "Frank Crawley" and "Ben".

After the performance, VBW Music Director Christian Struppeck and Managing Director Prof. Dr. Franz Patay toasted to a successful evening with the entire team and all the premiere guests (including Marika Lichter, Birgit Sarata, Marjan Shaki, David Jakobs, Lotte de Beer, Maya Hakvoort, Harald Serafin and many more) at the premiere party.

Finally back in Vienna!

The VBW success musical REBECCA finally returns to the Raimund Theater! The two most successful German-language musical authors Michael Kunze & Sylvester Levay ("Elisabeth", "Mozart!") have created another magnificent masterpiece that has already captivated more than 2 million visitors* worldwide in 12 countries and 10 languages. The spectacular production, based on the world-famous novel by Daphne du Maurier, can finally be experienced again in Vienna after many international stops in the captivating staging by US star director Francesca Zambello.

Romance, dark secrets and scary suspense

The world-famous material, which was already nominated for 11 Oscars in Alfred Hitchcock's cinema version and only recently celebrated success in the Netflix remake, also guarantees a wonderful evening full of romance, dark secrets and eerie suspense in the legendary musical adaptation by Vereinigte Bühnen Wien.

Musical thriller in a class of its own

The romantic love story at Manderley Castle gradually develops into a gripping thriller with lots of intrigue and dark surprises. Breathtakingly staged, with magnificent sets, moving melodies, a unique, large live orchestra and amazing special effects, REBECCA is a musical experience in a class of its own that you definitely don't want to miss.

What a special and emotional moment: After several postponements due to corona, Cameron Mackintosh's moving musical world hit finally celebrated its premiere last night at the new Raimund Theater.

Newcomer Vanessa Heinz ("Kim") and audience favourite Oedo Kuipers ("Chris") thrilled in the leading roles of the famous musical by Alain Boublil and Claude-Michel Schönberg. Christian Rey Marbella made his Vienna debut with the role of the "Engineer" and brought great cheers from the audience with his performance. Gino Emnes, James Park, Abla Alaoui and Annemarie Lauretta performed brilliantly in the roles of "John", "Thuy", "Ellen" and "Gigi".


The atmosphere in the theatre was phenomenal and the joy of finally being able to experience this world-famous show, which has already been seen by more than 36 million people in 32 countries and 15 languages all over the world, was accordingly great. The audience thanked the entire obviously moved ensemble with cheers and standing ovations that lasted for minutes, as the production finally celebrated its grand gala premiere after two years. An evening of great emotion.
